4th BYMAT Conference – Bringing Young Mathematicians Together
Welcome to the 4th BYMAT Conference – Bringing Young Mathematicians Together. Due to the great reception of the previous BYMAT2020, this year’s conference will be held online again, allowing participation from anywhere in the world. This edition will be held from November 9 to November 11, 2022.
This conference aims to:
- Strengthen the links between PhD students in all disciplines where mathematics is relevant, both nationally and internationally.
- Encourage researchers of different institutions, disciplines and countries to start building a network of contacts early into their careers.
- Provide a warm and open space for researchers in the early stages of their careers to present their work to peers of similar experience.
- Promote cross-disciplinary training during the PhD stage, favouring interaction with students from different areas, and boosting scientific outreach and the transfer of knowledge between academia and industry.
- Favour the use of English as a working language to make BYMAT an inclusive conference.
Participation and attendance to the Conference will be free of charge.
The conference is especially directed at PhD students in all areas of mathematics and related disciplines, and indeed any young people who use mathematics in their daily lives/jobs. Everyone, from undergraduates to university professors or industry professionals, is more than welcome to attend!
We expect contributed talks and posters to come mainly from PhD students, young industry professionals, master’s students and recent postdocs. The official language of the conference will be English.
We will have short talks (15-20 minutes) distributed in thematic parallel sessions, a poster session, 5 plenary talks delivered by young professors and industry professionals, and 3 workshops.
II CONGRESO ESCUELA INTERNACIONAL DE DOCTORADO UNIVERSIDAD REY JUAN CARLOS
La Escuela Internacional de Doctorado de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos celebra su II Congreso los días 27 y 28 de noviembre de 2019. La finalidad es que participen de modo protagónico los estudiantes de doctorado, encontrando un lugar de reflexión común guiado por grandes figuras científicas y profesionales de reconocido prestigio.
Invitamos a participar tanto a los estudiantes de doctorado de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos como a los de otras Universidades que así lo deseen, presentando comunicaciones y con su asistencia.
*Intercambiar experiencias entre doctorandos de las diferentes ramas de conocimiento, con participación de profesores y doctorandos, fomentando el debate y la comunicación.
* Reflexionar acerca de los problemas actuales de los estudiantes de doctorado de las diferentes ramas de conocimiento.
* Contar con profesores de otras Universidades y centros de investigación que aporten claves importantes para la labor investigadora de nuestros doctorandos.
* Difundir la actividad investigadora al conjunto de doctorandos, miembros de la comunidad universitaria, empresas y sociedad.
* Desarrollar la capacidad de exposición y difusión de resultados de la investigación doctoral.

Para los estudiantes de doctorado de la URJC la inscripción es gratuita.
Modelling Week
The ECMI Postgraduate / VI Iberian / NeEDS Modelling Week
will be held at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Seville IMUS (Seville, Spain) on July 8-13th, 2019.
It is co-organized by the European Consortium for Mathematics and Industry (ECMI), the Spanish Network for Mathematics-Industry (math-in), the Portuguese Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovation (PT-MATHS-IN), and the H2020-MSCA-RISE NeEDS project (NeEDS), and takes part of the satellite meetings to the 9th International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics ICIAM 2019 (July 15th-19th, 2019, Valencia, Spain).
10 real life problems proposed by different industries will be tackled through mathematical modeling, by small groups of international Master students, Ph.D. students and junior researchers (like post-doctoral students) under the guidance of one instructor by each problem and some senior and industrial collaborators.

Evento «Las matemáticas en España. Pasado, presente y futuro»
El viernes 22 de febrero hemos organizado unas jornadas sobre “Las matemáticas en España: pasado, presente y futuro”. Los ponentes serán Francisco Marcellán (Presidente de la RSME), Pedro J. Miana (Universidad de Zaragoza), Santiago García Cremades (Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche ), en el evento se proyectará un documental de la RSME.
